Niihama is a city situated in the eastern part of Ehime Prefecture, Japan. It covers a total area of 234.50 square kilometres (90.54 sq mi) and has an estimated population of 115,824 as of July 31, 2022. With a population density of 490 persons per km2, it ranks as the third largest city in Ehime Prefecture, following the prefectural capital of Matsuyama and the city of Imabari.
The city is well-known for its historical Besshi copper mine and its cultural traditions. One of its most notable events is the annual Niihama Taiko Festival, which serves as a center for boisterous activity and attracts tourists from across the country.
