Irbid is a city situated in northern Jordan within the Irbid Governorate. It is located on the northern ridge of the Gilead mountains and lies approximately 20 kilometres south of the Syrian border.
As the largest city in its governorate, Irbid ranks as the third most populous city in Jordan. The urban center serves as a primary population hub for the northern region of the country.
