Mafraq is the capital city of the Mafraq Governorate in Jordan. It is situated approximately 80 km north of Amman, the nation's capital.
The city serves as a significant geographical crossroads, positioned with a road leading north toward Syria and another extending east toward Iraq. As of the 2004 census, the population of Mafraq was recorded at 56,340 inhabitants.
