Cison di Valmarino is a village and comune located in the province of Treviso within the Veneto region of north-eastern Italy. It has a population of 2,295 inhabitants. The name of the municipality is a portmanteau derived from the words "valle" (valley) and "mara."
Historically, the village served as the seat of the county of Valmareno, which once included 20 villages and two castles. From 1439 onward, the area belonged to the Brandolini family, who held the title of counts of Valmarino. Since 2019, Cison di Valmarino has been recognized as one of the "Borghi più belli d'Italia" (the most beautiful villages in Italy).
The location also holds the Orange Flag tourism and environmental quality mark, an award granted by the Italian Touring Club. This distinction highlights the village's commitment to maintaining high standards of environmental quality and tourism infrastructure.
