Breda is a city and municipality located in the southern part of the Netherlands within the province of North Brabant. The name of the city is derived from brede Aa, which refers to the confluence of the rivers Mark and Aa.

As of September 13, 2022, Breda has a population of 185,072 inhabitants. It serves as part of the Brabantse Stedenrij and ranks as the tenth largest city or municipality in the Netherlands, following Eindhoven and Tilburg as the third largest in North Brabant. Geographically, the city is situated equidistant from the cities of Rotterdam and Antwerp.
