Perugia is the capital city of the Umbria region and the province of Perugia in central Italy. It is situated on a high hilltop and encompasses parts of the surrounding valleys, positioned approximately 164 km north of Rome and 148 km southeast of Florence.

The city is crossed by the River Tiber and has a population of 162,384. It ranks as the 23rd-largest city in Italy.
