Mals is a comune and village situated in the province of Bolzano within the autonomous region of South Tyrol in northern Italy. It is located approximately 70 kilometres (43 mi) northwest of the city of Bolzano.
The municipality sits in a strategic geographic position near the international borders with Switzerland and Austria. It serves as a local administrative center for its surrounding area in the alpine region.
