Pisa

Italy

Pisa is a city and comune located in the Tuscany region of Central Italy. It sits along the Arno River just before it empties into the Ligurian Sea and serves as the capital city of the Province of Pisa.

The city is globally recognized for the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but it also features more than twenty historic churches and numerous medieval and Renaissance palaces. Many of these structures are situated along the avenues of the Arno, known as the Lungarno. Much of the city's architecture was funded by its historical status as one of the Italian maritime republics.
