Montepulciano is a medieval and Renaissance hill town and comune located in the Italian province of Siena in southern Tuscany. The town is situated on a limestone ridge at an elevation of 605 metres (1,985 ft).
The city's geographic location places it approximately 70 kilometres (43 mi) southeast of Siena and 124 kilometres (77 mi) southeast of Florence. It is situated 13 kilometres (8 mi) east of Pienza and 186 kilometres (116 mi) north of Rome by car.
