Civitella in Val di Chiana, also known as Civitella di Val di Chiana, is a comune located in the province of Arezzo in the Tuscany region of Italy. Situated south of Arezzo, the municipality is positioned within the Val di Chiana area.

The town is recognized as one of the best-preserved examples of the Lombard fortress network dating from the 6th and 7th centuries in central Italy. It was strategically placed to control the surrounding territory, and the characteristic elliptical shape of these historical military settlements remains visible in the layout of the current town walls.
