Sutera is a comune located in the Province of Caltanissetta within the Italian region of Sicily. It is situated approximately 70 kilometres southeast of Palermo and about 30 kilometres west of Caltanissetta. The municipality is recognized as one of "I Borghi più belli d'Italia," which translates to some of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The local landscape is dominated by a large monolithic rock known as "The Mountain of San Paolino." This site holds significant religious importance as it contains the bones of the town's patron saints, St. Paolino and St. Onofrio. During the Feast of San Onofrio, residents participate in a traditional pilgrimage where they walk to the summit of the mountain. The name Sutera originates from the Greek word "Soter," meaning "our salvation."
