Portopalo di Capo Passero is a comune (municipality) located in the Province of Syracuse on the island of Sicily, Italy. It serves as the southernmost commune of Sicily, situated approximately 220 kilometres southeast of Palermo and 45 kilometres southwest of Syracuse. The municipality covers an area of 14.9 square kilometres and had a population of 3,916 as of February 2017.
Historically, Portopalo was part of the municipality of Pachino until it gained autonomy in 1975. The town is recognized for its high-quality fishing industry, attributed to its geographical position at the junction of the Ionian and Mediterranean Seas. Additionally, the area features a subtropical climate with average temperatures ranging between 12°C and 27°C.
