Lipari is a city and municipality located in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the northern coast of Sicily, Southern Italy. It serves as the largest of the seven Aeolian Islands and is administratively part of the Metropolitan City of Messina. The name Lipari refers to both the main urban area of the comune and the largest island within the archipelago.
The municipality includes six of the seven islands in the chain. While the permanent population of Lipari is 12,793 residents, the total population can increase to approximately 20,000 during the tourist season from May to September.
