Linguaglossa is a town and comune located in the Metropolitan City of Catania in Sicily, Italy. It is situated on the northern side of Mount Etna, an area that also features a ski resort with views of the Ionian Sea. The town was founded in 1566 on a lava stream.
The name Linguaglossa literally translates to "Tongue Tongue," derived from the Latin and Greek words for tongue; however, it actually originates from the phrase "grossa lingua di lava," meaning "a big tongue of lava." The region is recognized as a prominent destination for its wine production, Michelin-starred dining, and culinary heritage.
