Gioiosa Marea is a comune, or municipality, located in the Metropolitan City of Messina within the Italian region of Sicily. It is situated on the eastern coast of the island.
The town is positioned approximately 130 kilometres (81 mi) east of Palermo and about 60 kilometres (37 mi) west of Messina.
