Tonara is a town and comune located in the Province of Nuoro within the autonomous island region of Sardinia, Italy. It is situated approximately 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Cagliari and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southwest of Nuoro.
The municipality has a population of 1,806 inhabitants. It serves as a local administrative center within the inland region of the island.
