Santa Maria Coghinas is a comune located in the Italian region of Sardinia. It is situated within the Metropolitan City of Sassari and lies approximately 35 kilometres (22 mi) northeast of Sassari and about 190 kilometres (120 mi) north of Cagliari.
The municipality is positioned on the banks of the Coghinas river within the Anglona traditional region. It serves as a local administrative center in the northern part of the island.
