Spongano is a town and comune located in the province of Lecce within the Apulia region of south-east Italy. Situated in the Salento area, the municipality is characterized by its rural setting nestled among extensive olive groves.
The town is positioned just minutes from the Adriatic Sea, where the coastline features a rocky shore composed of hidden coves, sandy beaches, and reefs. Historically, the area contains evidence of prehistoric human presence, including megaliths such as mehir and the dolmen known as Piedi Grandi.
