San Giorgio Ionico is a town and comune located in the province of Taranto within the northern Salento area. It is situated in the Apulia region of southeast Italy.
The town was historically established as an Arbëreshë settlement. Over time, the inhabitants transitioned from the Albanian Greek Orthodox faith and assimilated into the local population.
