Melpignano is a small town and comune located in the province of Lecce within the Apulia region of southeastern Italy. It sits at an elevation of 89 metres above sea level and covers a total area of 10.93 square kilometres.
The municipality has a population of 2,209 inhabitants, resulting in a population density of approximately 202 inhabitants per square kilometer. Melpignano is notably recognized as one of the nine towns that comprise Grecìa Salentina.
