Galatina is a town and comune located in the Province of Lecce within the Apulia region of southern Italy. Situated approximately 21 kilometres, or about 13 miles, south of the city of Lecce, it serves as a notable municipality in the area.

Historically known as San Pietro in Galatina prior to the unification of Italy, the town maintains its identity within the context of the surrounding Salento peninsula. It is characterized by its geographical position in the southern Italian landscape.
