Corato is a city and comune located in the Metropolitan City of Bari within the Apulia region of southeastern Italy. The municipality was founded by the Normans and underwent various historical transitions, becoming subject to Alfonso V, king of Aragon, at the end of the 15th century before later falling under the control of the Carafa family.
