Altamura is a town and comune located in the Apulia region of southern Italy. It is situated on one of the hills of the Murge plateau within the Metropolitan City of Bari, positioned approximately 45 kilometres southwest of Bari near the border with Basilicata.
As of 2017, the municipality has a population of 70,595 inhabitants. The town serves as a notable local center in the southern Italian landscape.
