Montagano is a comune located in the Province of Campobasso within the Italian region of Molise. It is situated approximately 9 kilometres (6 miles) north of the city of Campobasso.
The municipality rises on one side of the Biferno river. The site is historically significant as it once hosted an ancient Samnite town, where inhabitants sided with Hannibal against Rome during the 4th century B.C.
