Molise is an administrative region located in southern Italy. It covers a total area of 4,460.65 km2 (1,722 sq mi), making it the second smallest region in the country after Aosta Valley. As of 2026, the region has a population of 285,940.
The regional capital and largest city is Campobasso, which also serves as the capital of the Province of Campobasso. Molise is composed of two provinces: the Province of Campobasso and the Province of Isernia.
