Montecosaro is a comune, or municipality, situated in the Province of Macerata within the Marche region of central Italy. It is located approximately 35 kilometres southeast of the coastal city of Ancona and about 15 kilometres east of the provincial capital, Macerata.
As a local administrative division, Montecosaro serves as a primary residential and civic hub for its surrounding area in the Marche region.
