Vigevano is a comune located in the province of Pavia within the Lombardy region of northern Italy. It was officially granted the honorary title of city by a decree from Duke Francis II Sforza on February 2, 1532. The municipality serves as one of the primary centers of Lomellina, an agricultural district primarily known for rice production.
The town is recognized as a historic art destination, most notably for its Renaissance-style Piazza Ducale located in the center of the city. Additionally, Vigevano is well-known for its shoemaking industry and hosts the Rassegna Litteraria di Vigevano. This annual cultural event celebrates literature and the arts by honoring two distinguished personalities with a National Prize and an International Career Prize.
