Morterone is a village and comune (municipality) located in the Province of Lecco within the Lombardy region of Italy. It is situated approximately 50 kilometres northeast of Milan and about 7 kilometres northeast of the city of Lecco.
The municipality covers an area of 13.71 square kilometres and holds the distinction of being the least populous municipality in Italy. While it competes with the municipality of Pedesina for this record, Morterone officially became the smallest Italian comune again in 2016 with a population of 32 residents.
