Malgrate is a comune, or municipality, situated in the Province of Lecco within the Lombardy region of northern Italy. It is positioned approximately 45 kilometres (28 miles) northeast of Milan, the primary city of the region.
The town is located directly across from the city of Lecco, separated by Lake Como. As of December 31, 2004, Malgrate had a population of 4,233 residents and covers a total area of 2.0 square kilometres (0.77 mi2).
