Lenna is a standard test image used in the field of digital image processing since 1973. The photograph features Swedish model Lena Forsén and was taken by photographer Dwight Hooker. It was originally cropped from the centerfold of the November 1972 issue of Playboy magazine.
The use of Lenna has been a subject of controversy due to its content. Beginning in the mid-2010s, many journals began to deem the image inappropriate, with some publications discouraging its use and others banning it entirely. Forsén herself has advocated for the image's retirement from technical applications.
