Goito is a comune located in the Province of Mantua within the Lombardy region of northern Italy. It has a population of 10,005 residents and is situated approximately 20 kilometres north of Mantua on the road leading toward Brescia and Lake Garda. The town straddles the historic east–west Via Postumia, which connects Cremona and Verona.
Geographically, Goito is positioned on the right bank of the Mincio River at a significant crossing point. It is part of the historic region known as Alto Mantovano. Notable historical features of the town include its status as the birthplace of Sordello and its history as the site of a notable fortress.
