Bergamo is a city located in the alpine Lombardy region of northern Italy. It serves as the administrative seat of the province of Bergamo.
The city is situated approximately 40 km (25 mi) northeast of Milan and lies near several major alpine lakes, including Como and Iseo, which are about 30 km (19 mi) away. The Bergamo Alps begin immediately to the north of the city limits.
