Santa Margherita Ligure is a comune located in the Metropolitan City of Genoa within the Liguria region of Italy. Situated approximately 35 kilometres southeast of Genoa, it sits in an area traditionally referred to as Tigullio. The municipality shares borders with the towns of Camogli, Portofino, and Rapallo.

The town features a port that serves both the fishing industry and tourism sectors. Additionally, a portion of the municipality's territory is integrated into the Regional Natural Park of Portofino.
