Tarano is a comune located in the Province of Rieti within the Italian region of Latium. It is situated approximately 50 kilometres north of Rome and about 25 kilometres west of the city of Rieti.
As of December 31, 2004, the municipality covered an area of 20.1 square kilometres and had a recorded population of 1,296 residents.
