Sutri is an ancient town and modern comune located in the province of Viterbo in Italy. It is situated approximately 50 kilometres (31 mi) from Rome and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of Viterbo. Historically, the location served as a former bishopric.
The town is characterized by its picturesque setting on a narrow tuff hill surrounded by ravines. It is connected to the surrounding countryside by a narrow neck on its western side. Sutri has been recognized as one of the "Borghi più belli d'Italia," which translates to some of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
