Pontecorvo is a town and comune located in the province of Frosinone within the Lazio region of Italy. It has a population of approximately 13,200 residents.
The village is situated beneath Rocca Guglielma, a medieval fortification positioned on an inaccessible spur. The name Pontecorvo is derived from "pons curvus," meaning "curved bridge." This structure may still be visible in the center of the town, where it served as the site around which the settlement grew during the Middle Ages.
The specific curve of the historical bridge was designed as a functional feature to divert timbers that might strike its piers during periods of flooding.
