Borgo Velino is a comune located in the Province of Rieti within the region of Latium, Italy. It is situated approximately 70 kilometres northeast of Rome and about 15 kilometres east of the town of Rieti. The municipality covers an area of 17.3 square kilometres and had a recorded population of 1,004 as of December 31, 2010.
Historically, Borgo Velino was part of the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo until 1927. The area is notable for its proximity to the site of Viario, a pre- or early-Roman Sabine village. While much of this ancient settlement is now occupied by cultivated fields, rare ruins remain near a standing medieval tower. Additionally, the town is recognized as the birthplace of Giulio Pezzola, a notorious outlaw from the 17th century.
