Taipana is a comune located in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy. It falls within the regional decentralization entity of Udine and is situated on the border with Slovenia. The municipality is positioned approximately 20 kilometres northeast of Udine and about 80 kilometres northwest of Trieste.
The area covers a total of 65.6 square kilometres. As of December 31, 2004, Taipana had a population of 737 residents. According to the 1971 census, 92.9% of the local population identified as Slovenes.
