Stregna is a comune located in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy. It is situated within the regional decentralization entity of Udine, positioned approximately 30 kilometres northeast of Udine and about 60 kilometres northwest of Trieste.
The municipality lies on the border with Slovenia and shares boundaries with the municipalities of Grimacco, San Leonardo, and Prepotto, as well as the Slovenian municipality of Kanal ob Soči. The name of the settlement is derived from the Slovene word "srednje," which translates to "the middle one."
