Staranzano is a comune (municipality) located in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy. It is situated within the regional decentralization entity of Gorizia, positioned approximately 30 kilometres northwest of Trieste and about 15 kilometres southwest of Gorizia.
As of July 31, 2025, the municipality covers an area of 18.7 square kilometres and has a population of 7,133 residents. The territory includes several frazioni (boroughs), such as Alberoni, Bistrigna, Dobbia, Lido di Staranzano, Quarantia, Villaraspa, Le Coloschie, Bosco Grande, Bonifica del Broncolo, and Punta Sdobba.
