Sasso Marconi is a town and comune located in the Metropolitan City of Bologna within the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. It is situated in the lower valley of the Reno river, positioned approximately 17 kilometres (11 miles) south-southwest of the city of Bologna.
The municipality lies at the northern edge of the Bolognese Apennines. Its geographical location serves as a point of transition between the surrounding mountain range and the lower valley landscape.
