Sarmato is a comune located in the Province of Piacenza within the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. It is situated approximately 160 kilometres northwest of Bologna and about 15 kilometres west of Piacenza.
The municipality covers an area of 27.0 square kilometres and had a recorded population of 2,714 as of December 31, 2004. Sarmato shares borders with the municipalities of Borgonovo Val Tidone, Castel San Giovanni, Monticelli Pavese, Pieve Porto Morone, and Rottofreno.
