Loiano is a town and comune located in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. It is situated within the Metropolitan City of Bologna in the Tusco-Emilian Apennines at an elevation of 714 metres (2,343 ft) above sea level.
The town is connected to major regional centers by Highway SS 65. This route links Loiano to Bologna, located 35 kilometres (22 mi) to the north, and Florence, which lies 73 kilometres (45 mi) to the south.
