Formignana is a comune, or municipality, located in the Province of Ferrara within the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. It is situated approximately 20 kilometres east of Ferrara and about 60 kilometres northeast of Bologna.
As of December 31, 2004, the municipality covered an area of 22.3 square kilometres and had a population of 2,898 residents.
