Comacchio is a town and comune located in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy, within the province of Ferrara. It is situated approximately 48 kilometres (30 mi) from the provincial capital of Ferrara. Founded about two thousand years ago, the municipality has been governed by various entities throughout its history, including the Exarchate of Ravenna, the Duchy of Ferrara, and the Papal States.
The town is recognized as one of the major centers of the Po delta due to its distinct landscape and historical significance. It is also designated as part of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Ferrara, City of the Renaissance, and its Po Delta."
