Monteverde is a canton located in the Puntarenas province of Costa Rica. It is situated within the Cordillera de Tilarán mountain range, approximately a four-hour drive from the country's Central Valley.
The region is recognized as one of Costa Rica's primary ecotourism destinations. It features several natural attractions that draw significant numbers of tourists and naturalists from both domestic and international locations. Among these sites is the Reserva Biológica Bosque Nuboso Monteverde, which is the largest such reserve in the country.
