Monteforte Irpino is a town and comune located in the province of Avellino within the Campania region of Italy.
The town gained significant international attention in 2013 following a fatal bus crash involving pilgrims returning from a Catholic shrine. The vehicle slid off a road near Monteforte Irpino and fell approximately 30 metres (100 ft) off a bridge, resulting in the deaths of 40 people.
