Saracena is a town and comune located in the province of Cosenza within the Calabria region of southern Italy. It is situated among several neighboring municipalities, including Altomonte, Castrovillari, Firmo, Lungro, Morano Calabro, Mormanno, Orsomarso, and San Basile.
The town is notable for housing the Church of San Leone, a Byzantine church dating back to the 12th century. Additionally, the community honors San Leone di Catania as its patron saint, with celebrations held twice annually during the spring and late summer seasons.
