Placanica is a comune located in the Province of Reggio Calabria within the Italian region of Calabria. It is situated approximately 60 kilometres (37 mi) south of Catanzaro and about 80 kilometres (50 mi) northeast of Reggio Calabria.
The municipality shares borders with the communes of Caulonia, Pazzano, and Stignano.
