Monasterace is a comune (municipality) located in the Province of Reggio Calabria within the Italian region of Calabria. It is situated approximately 50 kilometres south of Catanzaro and about 90 kilometres northeast of Reggio Calabria.
The area is notable for its archaeological significance, specifically the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Caulonia, which are located a short distance north of the coastal frazione Monasterace Marina. The Monasterace Archeological Museum is also situated north of Monasterace Marina and houses various finds from the site of Caulonia.
